Introducing the project
The Palm Jumeirah is an area located within the UAE (United Arab Emirates), a uniquely shaped city in the UAE designed to look like a palm tree. This uniquely shaped city in the UAE has many areas such as fun waterparks, and attractions for tourists to visit, see and love. Not only is it an area to live in, but it is an area that speaks only of luxury.
Using virtual reality to visit and explore areas of the world that you never imagined visiting is likely to attract and bring a very high user experience to an audience. People who admire seeing and visiting an area in the world can only do done by simply travelling, which may not be so simple. The purpose of my project is to help allow an audience to use VR to the maximum and give them the accessibility to see a city using VR, being there visually and mentally, rather than physically, however, with the power of imagination can only become physically possible.
One of the criteria for this assignment was to make sure that the final piece was to be showcased and presented. I believe within the production piece of my work and the research I have provided for this project, using the emerging technology accessibility devices within the University, I have been able to successfully showcase and present my palm Jumeirah in the 3D map design that I had originally planned to achieve.
Before going ahead and starting my map design, I had added and drawn some notes of Ethical considerations that needed to be established before designing. It is important to be considerate of my audience’s privacy and space when presenting with VR, as personal data may be requested, and these personal data should always be kept private.
Using my research of Palm Jumeirah, and using google maps to help locate and identify certain buildings and designs, sketches and light work plans were created to help ease the map design work, making it easier for me to design with VR, adding assets within the world.
