The Direction to be taken
I created a storyboard to help demonstrate the journey I plan to take on through my work, showing show I want to take on my steps on working towards each milestone, making sure I add in the details needed to help target my audience further, allowing them to be able to interact clearly with the VR world and reaching my goals purpose.
As my idea for my project is at its early stages, I do have the intention to expand on my ideas further as I go along this project, I plan to add more interactivity options within my work and make the VR world a lot more fun for my users to use and experience with. My storyboard at the moment shows a detailed explanation of how I intend to start my work and where about’s I want to take the beginning areas of it.
The storyboard allows me to fulfil my audience’s needs when looking into meeting my set goals, which are to:
- Allowing the user to get to know Dubai at a low cost
- Non-complex and makes it easy for the user
- Design and Structure to be ‘Dubai’ Standard
- Attract the correct group of the audience
Due to the complexity of the required details to obtain the standards needed for this project, I need to make sure I allow myself a good amount of time to create the work needed for this project, create the 3D plan first by sketching, then taking it into Maya to trace, then texture through Substances.
Ethical Considerations to Consider
Out of all ethical problems that couple possibly occur, the main top 3 that stand out to me is:
- Diversity
- Accessibility
- Privacy
Diversity
When creating a world among a cultured country, it comes to accountability when trying to consider some of the cultural differences that the UAE may have in comparison to other countries were tourists may come from, such as the language and cultural designs.
Making sure that any Arabic writing that may appear on some buildings and further structure should be translated to English, as English is a world wide language known to most people across the world, allowing it to be accessible for everyone to understand. As well as the design, as this is based in the UAE, it is important to take into consideration the detailed designs from the Arab country to help match the standards required when designing my project.
Accessibility
Designing the project to be accessible for all user’s is another consideration that should be looked into carefully, those who may have trouble reading regarding the font style or colour collision should be something I need to carefully consider when designing my VR world. In addition to this, those who may have a disability should have access to voice commands and screen reader’s to make it easier to navigate and understand when using the VR world.
Privacy
Finally, privacy is one ethical decision that is the most important out of ALL and should always be carefully checked. As a developer to this VR world, it is my responsibility to ensure any data collection and information that’s inputted to the programme is CAREFULLY secured and protected throughout the use of the VR program. If not carefully checked, it may cause future problems amongst myself with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the law.
In addition to this, invasions to privacy of some facial recognitions and tracking technologies may not always be everyone’s source of comfort, making sure the user is aware of the program and how it works should be taken into consideration to ensure privacy within the VR world and program is carefully looked over with the user.
