Sustainability

An image to show some elements of sustainability

To be sustainable is to be able to live in the present without ruining the future, keeping a balance between economic growth and environmental care. Looking after the earth for future generations. Being sustainable requires improvement in global warming and improvement to the way people go around the economy.

My Animation: Sustainability

Showing a small mind map of my chosen animation, analysing the selections and options to how my animation may work.

Following the drawing above as shown in the image, this animation relates to sustainability. Objects and small images drawn on the edge of the earth present the purpose as to why our earth is collapsing and other objects show how we can save the earth’s health. An example of this is the bike instead of the car, as the car releases a lot of toxic smoke into the air, which we humans then inhale. Another example is solar panels which reduce the number of greenhouse gasses that get released into the air, affecting climate change. This becomes dangerous to not only us humans, but to the wildlife that lives with us, and our ecosystem.

Not all features that have been drawn in the above diagram will be used in my final animation but will be included somewhere to create and have my animation build and come together. Each object is labelled along the globe to indicate how it’s affecting the earth’s sustainability through our everyday life.

The animation will then gradually change, grass on the earth will gradually change colour and become browner, water will change and contain dirt, trees will either shrink or get chopped down, etc.

Drawing of the second part of the animation:

The second couple of scenes of my animation consists of the same repeated background through 4/5 scenes which may be around 5/10 seconds, showing the stickmen littering. Improvements to be made are to present the background as duller and more mouldy after the paper has landed in the water.

What could possibly be included?

  • A FULL repeat 360′ turn of the earth
  • Night and day (light and dark) to the background of the animation for the moon and sun in the animation
  • Bike wheels turn as the earth spins
  • Wind-turbine to spin as the earth spins
  • Solar panels flicker on and off depending on the background
  • Stickmen (as people) walk on the earth as it spins
  • Building lights flicker depending on the background
  • Car drives as the earth spins, releasing smoke (representing pollution).
