360 Scene
In virtual reality, being inside a completely different scene means a whole new amount of emotion and experience that is not real life, but may come across and almost feel as if it’s real life. For this lab exercise, we researched and looked into ways that the scenes are designed and produced to its standards when creating a user experience in virtual reality.
Some immersive designs may be to purposely show an illusion, and some maybe to present a real-life experience to a movie or book. In this case, this example presents an illusion, feeling like you’re going through a hole that’s continuously moving, whilst still being able to look around by navigating yourself around.
I wanted to create my own immersive design experience, using a simple scene that meant a lot to me. During this planning stage, I decided that I wanted to show a park space that reflected a well-known park in Hull, Pearson Park, a childhood park that comes quite to my heart to myself. My family grew up at this park and I wanted to show this in my work.
The aim of the image was supposed to be a 3D 360* image all around the camera, but during the process of my making, I experienced some trouble undertaking to place the image as a full 360*, which would be further future improvements to myself in getting the image to be all around rather than in one place. The car is not just any blue car, but it represents the progress I’ve made in my life journey, driving along the side road of Pearson Park shows my journey in life as my younger self used to be at this park, that’s what this piece mean’s to me and why I chose to design it in this way.
