The Palm Jebel Ali

Welcome to The Palm Jebel Ali, located in the South of Dubai.

The Palm Jebel Ali, one of the most popular visited and still emerging cities in Dubai, is one of the top to be visited as a tourist attraction. Dubai isn’t a place for everyone but it is certainly a beauty to the eye when visualised, which leads me to my project. I aim to create a VR setting of The Palm Jebel Ali.

Regarding the many popular places to visit around the world, a heartwarming place of mine in particular is Dubai. A family-orientated place for many people as tourists and guests to visit, the easy welcomes and kind people that are in the country make the place so much lighter. From understanding at a young age what growing up in a more open space meant, I had always dreamt of moving out and pursuing my dreams in a more open audience community, in a country where I felt most at comfort, and after the year had flown past me, I decided to finalise my final project of the year around a topic I could take away with me to present in the future.

Throughout the stages of making this VR setting, I plan to work around using the online VR Frame due to my location as the VR headset may not be available or accessible for me to use and demonstrate with, I am still creating with the intention that it should have been for a VR headset rather than a remote VR frame. In addition to this, I will be working with Maya to help create my world in 3D and to try and get the design structure to the same map plan as possible and as close to 3D as I can.

To help guide and create my work, I will be using blue prints and map layout’s to The Palm Jebel Ali, working around places and map structures of the location to make sure certain areas on the map were the same as it would be in real life, as this is for tourist, it is essential that it is as accurate as possible.

Examples:

The images above present a clear example of how I may chose to design and structure my VR world, using different software programs to help add material and build the world first, then developing and improving towards it, to then finally adding it into VR for people to experience in real life. Figures 1 and 4 are the most in detail when explaining how I may go about the structure in Maya, to then adding textures and further shadings and edits towards the design of the structure.
